Get a Kia Rio---Trade With Me...Please

The master of all cars with a hanging tree car freshner? This is a horrific case of porche abuse.

Food Fashion Faux Pas

No need to have this as decoration at a restaurant. Translation: Disgust

Big Cents

Las Vegas + Spring Break= A cheesy but happy time. I was feeling really good and left the one-cent machines long enough to drop a couple of pennies into this fine piece of machinery...and I lost! A total of five dollars wasted on gambling...down the drain along with my dreams of winning a shiny red convertible and millions of dollars.

p.s. The buffets for 10.99 are NOT good. All the food tastes like second grade cafeteria stuff. But I felt obligated to eat everything, even melted strawberry custard ice cream that tastes more like a strawberry cough drop. Don't do it! You'll leave feeling bloated and sick.

Pretty in Pink

Losing my cell phone for a day and a half was like losing half my mind. Stuck in traffic I was unable to call....in class I was unable to text message...seeing something funny I wasn't able to take a picture...trying to remember my roommate's number and the rest of the 67 contacts in my phone was impossible. But once again God (or maybe Bibleman) had my back. I got this baby for free, well kinda, because of overcharges Cingular billed me for the past three months. And it's pink. In college I would have died carrying around this phone because it would have been too "girly." But now I just don't care. I'm over the denial stage. My name is Tessa and I like pink.

The Best Bad Dinner I've Ever Cooked

Fishy inedible salmon and burnt & mangled croissant rolls. Finding a salmon recipe marked "easy" on Food Network was too hard for me. Yet my cooking disaster was a brilliant success. Instead I received a free delicious dinner out with Angela and the Fam and winning strategy tips on my ITAP competition---I love it! If only I could cook disgusting meals more often! Un grand, grand merci Mark!

My Prayers Are Answered

Skipping Gray and Going White

I am a 78 year old woman trapped inside a 24 year old body. My plans for spring break include a trip to Las Vegas where I will spend my days and nights sleeping. When I'm feeling really energetic I'll reach for the TV remote. Lifetime Original Movies. My first choice.

Not the President

Last night I decided to run for ATLA President of Southwestern. And I lost. Out of the three people running I came in third. It was a deflating experience. So I called my family for support. I told my 17 year old brother, "I am sad because I lost. I am not the ATLA President." There was a long pause and then he responded, "My teacher's son has a brain tumor."
So what the hell. I'm not the ATLA President. I didn't get the most votes. I was prideful to even think that I could win against someone who had been on the ATLA Board for the past 2 years. And I stopped (or tried to stop) feeling sorry for myself. I thought of Abe Lincoln and how many times he failed before he became President of the United States and tried to forget the words of Homer Simpson, "If you try, you might fail. So the lesson to be learned is never try." Then I received a call from Josh, the President of ATLA this year saying that I could be on the Board as the Parliamentarian. Yes!!! I eagerly accepted!! Now I just have to find out what a Parliamentarian does...

Gold Digger

While in San Diego last weekend for the ABA 9th Circuit Conference, us law students were supposed to "network" with lawyers at different tables for a specified time period. After about an hour and four tables later, all subjects seemed to be talked about. At the fifth table, after introducing ourselves I thought I'd try a lighter approach. When asked by a lawyer what we'd like to know, I said, "Tell us how we can make loads of money." I WAS JOKING. But now one else knew. For the rest of the time the lawyers talked about how it wasn't about money but loving what you do. At the very end, the lawyer next to me leaned over and whispered, "Remember, it's not about the money." I'm glad to know that I made such a good impression while networking. At the next table I went to I talked about how I received a public interest grant for the summer... Maybe next time I'll ask what I should do to marry rich...

ABA 9th Circuit Governor

This man, Alex Raminfar, defender of justice and king of all quotes, is the newly elected ABA Governor of the 9th Circuit. He had fierce compeititon from Loyola and USD but Alex's love and dedication to the ABA and the common man won him the majority of votes. Congratulations!

My Last Trip

While handing out SBA T-Shirts (yes...still...) in class I forgot how to walk and I tripped over a step and fell in front of many of my peers. It wasn't just a stumble but a full on whole body on the floor fall. No injuries except a bruised ego. But don't worry. The SBA shirts are fine. My body cushioned the fall of the shirts.
