Not the President

Last night I decided to run for ATLA President of Southwestern. And I lost. Out of the three people running I came in third. It was a deflating experience. So I called my family for support. I told my 17 year old brother, "I am sad because I lost. I am not the ATLA President." There was a long pause and then he responded, "My teacher's son has a brain tumor."
So what the hell. I'm not the ATLA President. I didn't get the most votes. I was prideful to even think that I could win against someone who had been on the ATLA Board for the past 2 years. And I stopped (or tried to stop) feeling sorry for myself. I thought of Abe Lincoln and how many times he failed before he became President of the United States and tried to forget the words of Homer Simpson, "If you try, you might fail. So the lesson to be learned is never try." Then I received a call from Josh, the President of ATLA this year saying that I could be on the Board as the Parliamentarian. Yes!!! I eagerly accepted!! Now I just have to find out what a Parliamentarian does...
