I've killed large spiders, dined on month old leftovers, suffered through bikini waxes, and used public restrooms without a toilet seat cover. Needless to say I'm fearless. But inserting contacts into my eyes for the first time was one of the scariest things I've ever done. Seriously. After attending an eye exam where I learned that my vision has declined to -1.00 in my right eye and -.50 in my left eye thanks to law school, I spent
20 minutes trying to insert one contact. I had two people trying to help me. Tears were running down my face as though a loved one died. Even my nose was running. At one point I broke down and told the worker that I'd rather just get glasses. But of course, I couldn't quit. She didn't let me. Finally, after about a half hour both contacts were in. The sense of accomplishment I felt was equivalent to running a marathon. I was a winner! And then they told me that I had to take the contacts
out. Hmmm. Let's just say I picked the glasses with the black frames.

I used to be so scared of anything going into or touching my eyes that I couldn't even use eyedrops. Then I had to start wearing contact lenses because eyeglasses don't fit under a lacrosse helmet. It only took about a week to get used to reaching up and touching my eyeballs (tap-tap). You'll be fine. But there's also something to be said for lasses in glasses...
I had lasik done in 2000 and it was worth every penny. I didn't even mind having to go back after 6 months because one of the eyes needed an "enhancement" (they blew it the first time). You may not be able to do it yet (I was 29 years old, and my eyes were -1.25/-1.50), but it may help you to think of the glasses/lenses as a temporary option and see if you get used to them...
Thanks Charles. Yesterday I tried to put on the contacts and it took me only about twenty minutes! Slowly but surely touching my eyeballs will become second nature.
Ha! I've been considering getting clear frame glasses to use during Moot Court competitions to make me look smarter and I have perfect vision.
Go with the glasses!
You should get one of those Giordi LaForge wrap-around things...then you'd look cool:-)
